Two firehouses serving much of Lakeview were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. This web site was specifically created to raise needed funds to help rebuild those firehouses. Without the necessary fire prevention capabilities, not only are Lakeview residents at greater risk, but adjacent areas are as well, due to stretched resources. We urge you to read on and help us rebuild our “safety net”, our community, and our city.

Many Lakeview residents are unable to hold homeowners policies and have been told their rates would drastically increase. Insurance companies have also informed Lakeview residents that due to the hurricane damage to firehouses there may be poor emergency response time in the area, thus increasing the risk for homeowner policies further.

The Lakeview Civic Association and Lakeview residents are on the mission to rebuild and are driving the fundraising. Lakeview resident Peter Graffeo, stated, “We want to rebuild. We want to move home. But at the current insurance rates, it’s difficult to pay these outrageous rates. Once the Lakeview firehouses are repaired, we believe this will drastically affect our rates and residents’ ability to return to New Orleans more quickly.”
